Miho Zaoya

Founder and Creative Director at Mind Arise Studio

Miho was born in Fukuoka, Kyushu Island, Japan. She grew up surronded by traditional Japanese culture and tradition where she learned traditional handicrafts and designs. Her first exposure to handicrafts was when she was six years old. Her artistic talents were nurtured by her grandmother who was an expert of Japanese tea ceremony. Her grandmother taught her important lessons to pass on to future generations. The more she worked on various types of Japanese traditional crafts, the more she started to love Japanese traditional handicrafts for their unique history and beautiful colours. Her love of handicrafts has never faltered. She graduated from university and started a career as a business consultant, but her passion for handicrafts never faded away. She continued to enjoy exploring and creating her own craft world. She knows that it helps to disconnect from the everyday hustle. Mari is Japanese traditional craft balls. She uses the rich fabrics from Japan and makes beautiful Mari balls. She is a rare teacher who is both gifted in her work and in bringing out the best work in her students. Miho lives and works in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
